Okay, so mule is "mode of transportation" in that phrase. It is not an Australian slang word, I was just being poetic :o))
Yes, many cars have been put on "gas" instead of having to use "petrol" all of the time, which is way expensive here right now.
Let me translate for you Yanks. (Yes, many here call us Yanks- goodness gracious.)
Here in Oz...
petrol = gasoline
gas = lpg or liquid petroleum gas
Gas is muuuch cheaper, so people
like me get their car to have an additional tank for LPG. You can see why in the photos. And remember, it's aboutr 4 litres to a gallon, so the price at the tank is PER LITRE, not gallon...

This is petrol pricing, so about $5.71 a gallon

This is LPG pricing, so about $2.28 a gallon

I go for LPG!!! and the government gives a $1500 rebate in less than two weeks for those who convert. It cost about $2450 to do the transition, and this is what it looks like when you open the door to pump...
LPG is the smaller tank opening on the left. You actually screw on the pump and fill it. When you are done, you unscrew it and it makes a hiss, then you simply put it back on the hook like we do at home. Very simple. The tank is stored in the trunk.
Also, for you who are interested...
These are the types of petrol offered...the 98 is higher than our highest back home in Indiana.
Now you know.
Many blessings!
I miss you all very much!
wow; gas here in Indiana is ranging from 4.09 - 4.29 per gallon last I checked. I paid 3.69 a gallon this week when visiting Kentucky. Thanks for the updates and photo's; your blog is awesome.
